Don't make legal errors. A legal error can affect the outcome. You are the defendant and appellant.

The above refers to the court caption you use when you file a document to your hearing officer and superior court.
This eliminates any confusion of exactly who you are. This is how Court of Appeal agrees it should be.

This matters! Do no give them any excuse to call you something you are not. YOU are NOT the plaintiff! YOU are the defendant - defending yourself.
John Doe, Defendant and Appellant OR Mary Doe, Defendant and Appellant.

Here is why. You are the Defendant defending against the administrative citation. Being the defendant is important as some legal issues affect defendants and some affect plaintiffs. As a defendant for example you can serve DISCOVERY immediately.
