This is a law created in 1995 that permits cities and counties in California to fine you for just about anything (they appear to be used nationwide). This site was established because there is little self-help from any city on how to 'properly' oppose your citation. Lawyers that know this mysterious law are hard to find. These are 'punitive' citations that enrich your city. Basically it is a way of taxing you -- because a new tax will not pass. Administrative citation law - law that governs these mystery creatures
A citation is a piece of paper. Actually historically a citation is a summons. ON the citation are the charges alleged against you. An administrative citation is simply a ticket with charges lodged against you, your car, your real property etc. Anything city can dream up and make an ordinance can be alleged against you. There are 482 cities in California. There are 58 counties. This means there are a whopping 540 'local agencies' that all create different law (code) that are incorporated into these citations. Technicalities that will permit attack exist everywhere.

Counties and cities that use administrative citations
The general count is that all 58 counties and all 482 cities in California now use administrative citations to fine their own citizens. Many cities have been sued like Coachella, and Indio in their abuse of the administrative citation process. If more cities are sued in class action lawsuits perhaps the law will change. The site will be posting all counties and all cities for chat between members about their specific city or county. Each city and county will have a different process. There are many bad actors, code officers and cities, abusing this process doing what is termed "policing for profit."
